Grey Horse Stable 2011 Spring Junior Driving Clinic - April 16-17, 2011

Grey Horse Stable is proud to announce our Jr. Driving Clinic at the Shoe House Farm in York, PA, April 16-17, 2011. The 2 day clinic will be from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday. Ages 7-18. Some of the information covered will be harness fitting and equine suitability, pleasure driving, CDE elements, and following ADS guidelines. We hope to encourage more interest in Jr participation at driving show events.

You are welcome to bring your own horse/pony and cart. Your horse/pony, harness and cart must be safe and appropriate for the child participating. Youth must wear a helmet and be accompanied by a capable adult acting as groom when driving. Breeching is required. No bit-less bridles. No stallions permitted.

We will have several horses/ponies available to use.

Bring approved helmets, gloves, hard- toed shoes (no sneakers, clogs, sandals, open-toed shoes), rain gear. Bring a packed lunch. We will have drinks and light snacks in the mornings. Saturday evening there will be a bonfire and potluck gathering if weather permits.

Camping is available and there are several motels in the surrounding area. A few stalls or turn-out areas will also be available.

All participants, parents, auditors must sign My Lady’s Manor Driving Club and Grey Horse Stable release waivers.

Fees:
$200.00 for clinic per child.- This also cover individual membership in My Lady’s Manor Driving Club if not already a member.
$50.00 for use of our horse/pony & cart for the weekend.
$35.00 a day for auditing- This also includes My Lady’s Manor Associate Membership.
$25.00 a night stall fee. We’ll provide the bedding, you clean.
$20.00 a night for camping. Sorry no hook-ups.

Virginia Carriage Driving Summer Camp - Belle Grey Farm, Upperville, VA

Belle Grey Farm will be holding Carriage Driving summer camps for children ages 6-10 at their beautiful facilities in Upperville, VA.  There will be 5 sessions with before- and after-care available.  The camp will be run by 2 full-time and 2 part-time staff, including a licensed elementary school teacher and the number of campers per session will be limited to keep a low camper to instructor ratio.

Each week, campers will be partnered with one of Belle Grey Farm’s champion miniature horses to learn the fundamentals of basic horse care, as well as breed show, pleasure driving and CDE events.  Events children will learn include:  showmanship, halter, halter obstacle, liberty, carriage driving (marathon, reinsmanship and cones obstacle).  Other activities will include water play, playground time and crafts.

The cost is $240 per session which runs 9am-3pm daily.  Before-care (7-9am) and after-care (3-5pm) are available at a cost of $80 each per session.

Session 1:  June 27 – July 1
Session 2:  July 5-8
Session 3:  July 11-15
Session 4:  July 18-22
Session 5:  July 25-29
