ADS Annual Members Meeting, Nov 1-4, 2007

Join your fellow ADS members for a weekend of Driving, Hollywood Style at Pierce College is in Woodland Hills, California about 25 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

Air Service
Two airports are within 30 miles: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is 28 miles away and Burbank airport is 18 miles. Shuttle service is available to most hotels.

Hotels
The ‘Host’ hotel will be Hilton Woodland Hills, 6360 Canoga Ave., Woodland Hills. Phone: 818-595-1000. Rooms have been blocked off for the American Driving Society with a nightly rate of $99.00 until October 2, 2007. The Hilton is only one mile from Pierce College and has a shuttle.

Activites for Family Members:
For family members accompanying members, tours are available to various attractions in and around the Los Angeles area. ADS will book two group tours, provided there are enough people interested.

Getty Center with Lunch at Lawry’s The Prime Rib
This tour departs at 10 AM and returns at 5:30 PM (day TBD). The day will start with lunch at Lawry’s Prime Rib Restaurant,
known worldwide for its outstanding service and perfectly prepared prime rib. The meal includes salad and bread, prime rib (grilled chicken and salmon also available), real mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and English trifle for dessert with freshly brewed coffee. Guests will then take a tram ride to the Getty Center, with scenic views of Sepulveda Pass. Once in the museum, there is a brief orientation film then guests are free to experience the Getty at their own pace. The museum includes works by Rembrandt, Goya, Monet, Cezanna, Michelangelo, and Degas.

Lights, Cameras, Los Angeles! with Lunch at Philippe The Original
This tour departs at 8:30 AM and returns at 5:30 PM (day TBD). The morning will be spent exploring downtown Los Angeles, including the Music Center and new Disney Symphony Hall, Our Lady of Angels Cathedral, Olvera Street, the Staples Center, Union Station, Chinatown, and more. Midway through the day, guests will stop at Philippe the Original for lunch. Established in 1908, Philippe’s claims the distinction of having created the “French Dipped Sandwich”. Each guest will have a voucher good for their choice of sandwich, salad, beverage, and a slice of pie or cheesecake.

The tour continues after lunch to Hancock Park and the La Brea Tar Pits, Hollywood and some time will be spent at the Grove shopping center and historic Farmer’s Market.
